CONCEPT

new engineer wants to fury road the station's fleet. don't let him.

POWERS

object summoning; telekinetic teleportation of non-living objects. when bruce wants a thing, one of the nearest and closest matches blips out from where it was and arrives in his field of vision — while ideally in his grip, that level of control is a work in progress. claims he's making these things out of thin air but he's not; is aware of this, now.

object size manipulation; changes the size of non-living objects. this requires the use of his hands, although he doesn't need to touch the thing, just pinch and drag it within his field of vision because he's still learning. probably has a time limit. bruce calls this "zoom and enhance!" ("!" emphasis necessary).

generic brand telekineses; if he can see it, he can move it/pull it/bop it(!). usually used in conjunction with zoom and enhance!, to wiggle stuff around.

HISTORY

growing up; pittsburgh in the early 90s. bruce's mom, a city bus driver, and dad, a social worker, had to deal with some weird hours so their kids lived it up latchkey style. bruce was the middle of five — and it showed. if there was something to get up to, bruce got up to it. something to get into? you'd have to pull him out. something to get under? i lost track of the comparison but you get the idea.

teen years; much of the same. spent a lot of time working for a local auto shop, classic story where he starts sweeping and begs them to show him the ropes until they do. rowdy teen boy in steel city. classic story.

early adulthood; bruce goes to college! he takes engineering because beneath that keg-standing exterior is a big how's-that-work guy, with a side of i-can-do-you-one-better. __ does get threatened with expulsion once when a group from his class deconstructs the dean's jaguar and reconstructs it on the athletic center's roof.

adulthood; did you know that a degree in mechanical engineering can get you a job designing pieces for HVAC equipment? and did you know that bruce found this to be the most boring job humankind had ever conceived? it's true. the problems he loved to solve no longer sparked his interest. __ other stuff.

adulthood take two; in-between years included high school auto shop teacher

married in early 20s bc y not. it wasn't long before dresden, said wife, realized that she's a full-blown lesbian. they split amicably and are still v close but never bothered finalizing the divorce. [i wrote this before dresden was going to be a PC so it's liable to change]

NOTES

🔧 born bruce travis nowles, changed his name in early adulthood when he thought his punk band would make it big. they broke up. bruce was the bassist even though he never learned how to play — but it was PUNK so NO ONE CARED.
